Splash of Pink by Julia Rogers

The Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania is 102 square miles of the best Africa has to offer. All the main players can be found here within the crater walls. I call it the "big five playpen".

As well as it's concentration of wildlife, it has a diversity of landscape. This painting is from the edge of one of the lakes on the floor of the crater. We were actually admiring a family of hippo lying in the shallows, surrounded by flamingos that line the lake with a ring of pink. Then a herd of zebras came splashing in, causing an explosion of pink as the flamingos took flight!
